ABOUT IN-ROADS

The International Network for Research Outcomes in Adolescent Depression Studies (IN-ROADS) initiative aims to develop a core outcome set (COS) to be used in clinical trials assessing treatments for major depressive disorder (MDD) in adolescents 12 to 18 years of age. International key stakeholders will be involved in this process of COS generation. Please see the videos below for further information about the IN-ROADS Initiative.

As explained by COMET, in order to help patients and healthcare professionals make decisions about appropriate treatments, evidence is required about which treatments are safe and work best. Researchers look at the effects of treatments on patients, by measuring an outcome. The main set of outcomes that should be measured and reported in all clinical trials for a specific health condition is called a ‘core outcome set’ (COS). Development of a COS for use in future adolescent MDD clinical trials will help improve outcome selection and measurement allowing for meaningful comparisons of trial results and a better understanding of which treatments are best. These improvements will inform policy and practice changes that will ultimately improve care and reduce both costs and disease burden for adolescent MDD.

ABOUT US

IN-ROADS aims to establish a core outcome set (COS) for use in adolescent major depressive disorder (MDD) clinical trials assessing any treatment intervention. Development of an adolescent MDD COS for use in future clinical trials will improve outcome selection and measurement thereby ensuring comparability between trials and fostering meaningful comparisons of trials and meta-analyses. The COS will be developed based on the input of patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, policy makers, and key international stakeholders.
